From Wind Mote, Senior IT Manager:
We wanted to address and remind everyone about the new Daily Quarantined Message Report that is sent to all users every morning. We have received tickets from users requesting to add emails to the allowed list. Per the communication and steps from IT back in March, we wanted to send a reminder of the steps you need to take to proactively monitor your quarantined messages and submit requests to add email addresses to the allowed list. This will ensure that messages from those email addresses will become whitelisted, so you won’t have to worry about them being in your quarantined list again. This is something you must participate in proactively daily.
Steps:
1. You will receive an email from AppRiver SpamLab with the Quarantined Message Report for the date around 5 AM EST daily. Please open the email and select the "View, Search, Sort Report" link at the top of the listed messages shown here.
2. This will take you to your personal email threat protection quarantine, where you can review your Spam > Malware > Released and Trash.
3. To release messages, select the box next to the message and then select "Release." You will be able to review messages from the past 15 days to release, so you should never have issues with messages being lost in your quarantine.
4. You will see a pop-up that gives you the option to "Release" the messages or "Release and Send to Allowed List Request." The recommendation is to always select "Release and Send Allowed List Request" so that you can whitelist the email address moving forward.
5. Please only select the email address to be allowed. We will not add domains or IP addresses to the allowed list as a security best practice.
The helpdesk will then receive the request to allow the email address, and you will start receiving those messages moving forward, bypassing your filter.
We ask that you please be proactive about your email message filtering. We hope to address any challenges users may be having with the steps. If you have any issues, feel free to reach out to the IT department. We are always here to assist in any way we can.
Thank you all for your patience as we transition to a more secure environment. We understand that IT changes can be challenging, so we appreciate your understanding and cooperation.
